Bystronic UK (
www.bystronic.com) welcomed more than 80 customers to the recent Open House at its headquarters and technical centre in Coventry.
During the three-day event, the company presented several case studies to illustrate how the latest BySprint Fiber laser technologies can be used to achieve higher levels of throughput.
A comparison was made between CO2 and fibre-laser, and a general increase in productivity of over 80% was demonstrated across various materials and jobs. Furthermore, the presentation team was able to show a reduction in equipment operating costs of as much as 51% in the best case.
Visitors to the Open House were invited to ‘race’ a 6kW BySprint Fiber Laser 3015 in an F1 simulator especially hired for the event. The laser cutting machine was timed as it cut a racing-car profile from a mild-steel sheet.
The challenge was for each visitor to complete a virtual lap of the Silverstone circuit in a faster time than it had taken the BySprint Fiber to cut out the profile.
A week after the Open House, Bystronic UK ran a dedicated water-jet cutting event. Visitors were able to watch applications experts take a part from a 3-D model to the finished product and see it being costed, quoted, nested and cut, using the latest software.
Bystronic UK’s team also gave presentations on the advantage of water-jet cutting, correct maintenance and the selection of abrasives for various applications.
