2012 SES TT Zero Challenge

2012 SES TT Zero ChallengeA total of 18 competitors, the highest number of entries since the inaugural race in June 2009, have confirmed their participation in this summer’s 2012 SES TT Zero Challenge on the Isle of Man. They all want to be the first to do a 100mph lap on an electric bike around the island’s world-famous Mountain Course. The current lap holders in the TT Zero race are Team Segway Racing Moto- Czysz from Portland, Oregon, with a lap of 99.604mph in 2011. However, recent technological advances mean that there will be stiff competition from the likes of Japan’s Team Mugen and India’s Team Agni.

The riders taking part this year include seasoned TT competitors such as 17-time champion John McGuinness, who will be making his TT Zero debut, piloting Team Mugen’s 120hp Mugen EV machine, as well as newcomers Bournemouth Kawasaki/Zytek Automotive and TGM IOT-Vienna.

The TT Zero Challenge Lap Award of £10,000 will be presented to the first team to complete a lap at over 100mph; or if multiple 100mph laps are achieved, the award will go to the highest-placed finisher. There will also be limited-edition trophies presented to the first 10 teams to do a 100mph lap.

Be seen in all the right places!
