EMS wins £1.6 million UAE deal

EMS wins £1.6 million UAE dealDungannon-based Environmental Marketing Solutions Ltd (EMS), which designs and manufactures machines suitable for the recycling and construction industries, has secured a £1.6 million contract in the UAE.

It used an Invest Northern Ireland Grant for R&D to develop an “innovative product range”, then took part in a trade mission to Saudi Arabia and the UAE to identify new customers.

Jeremy Fitch, Invest NI’s executive director (business solutions), said: “EMS has developed a strategic approach to business growth, investing in innovation and development to create new products that will generate new business. After starting out relatively small, it now delivers large-scale purpose-built recycling stations and equipment that successfully diverts millions of tonnes of waste from land-fill every year.

“This new deal in the UAE is confirmation that the company’s strategy is delivering results. It has already secured orders in export markets as far away as Nigeria and Kurdistan, as well as closer to home in Great Britain and Europe. This latest export success in the UAE could lead to further success across the Middle East, as the UAE has become increasingly focused on managing waste and landfill sites.”

Harry McCourt, managing director of EMS, said: “Due to an ambitious growth strategy, we looked for gaps in the market-place. With the assistance of an Invest NI grant for R&D allowing us to broaden our range of products, we were able to focus on creating solutions to address the needs of our customers. Invest NI’s support for R&D has allowed us to design, develop and manufacture a compact density separator that will enable our customers to create greater efficiencies and reduce their waste-disposal costs.”
