Offered as a versatile solution for machine shops looking to reduce their tooling inventory, Chesterfield-based Dormer Pramet (
www.dormerpramet.com) has launched its Force AD series of indexable-insert milling cutters.
These universal 90deg cutters feature Dormer Pramet’s AD programme ofindexable inserts, including the ADMX07, ADMX11 and ADMX16, making them suitable for operations that include ramping, helical interpolation and plunging.
Furthermore, the company says the cutters can be used on materials such as steel, stainless steel, cast iron, titanium and nickel — and in some cases hardened steels, copper and aluminium.
A positive geometry (with a rake angle of 25deg) allows for a reduction in cutting forces, while the shape of the insert’s cutting edge is said to provide high impact resistance and smooth machining. Geometries for aluminium and high-feed applications have recently been added.
Cutter diameters from 10 to 175mm are available, as are various insert styles. An internal coolant supply is available across the cutter range.
