German engineering giant Siemens AG (www.siemens.com) has bought a majority stake in Materials Solutions Ltd (materialssolutions.co.uk), a UK-based 3-D manufacturing company producing nickel-super-alloy parts for land-based and aerospace gas turbines, as well as steel and titanium components for aerospace systems and high-performance automotive systems.

Siemens nows owns 85% of the UK business. Materials Solutions founder Carl Brancher said that his company’s “know-how and experience will make a significant contribution to Siemens’ additive manufacturing strategy. Materials Solutions is developing the applications know-how and a supply chain for the world’s most advanced engineering companies — delivering processes and precision parts from 3-D CAD models, using software, lasers and metal powders.”
