Good Energy (
www.goodenergy.co.uk), a Chippenham-based renewable-energy provider, has launched an online platform to enable businesses to choose how and where their electricity is generated.
The Selectricity platform matches businesses with providers in their area, with the aim of giving them more control of their usage — plus hour-by-hour visibility.
The project was developed by technology start-up Open Utility and piloted by Good Energy earlier this year. It is said to be the first peer-to-peer offering of its kind on the market.
Nick Hurd, Industry Minister at the Business Department, said: “Unlocking the innovative capabilities of business is paramount to our transition to a low-carbon economy, so I am delighted to see this project, which was backed by the
Government’s Energy Entrepreneurs Fund, brought to the market-place.”
