Kitronik (www.kitronik.co.uk), a Nottingham-based electronics maker, has reported a significant increase in export sales.

The company, which makes electronics project kits and learning resources for schools, recorded overseas sales of £160,353 in the four months following the EU referendum result in June, compared to £22,556 for the same period last year. Kitronik now supplies customers in 36 countries.

Co-founder Kevin Spurr said: “In the weeks immediately following the Brexit vote, we were concerned about the fall in the value of the pound against the US dollar.

“We pay for many of our raw components in dollars, and it was therefore going to cost us more to create our electronics project kits.

"However, the fall in the value of the pound does seem to be offset by the fact that our products are now more price competitive to buyers in overseas markets, and this has resulted in a surge in exports.”
