Plans to create a solar farm on a site in Carmarthenshire with the potential to generate enough energy for around 400 homes are set to be given the go-ahead.
Power for Wales Inc is to install 8,728 photo-voltaic panels that will generate about 2.5MW of electricity at peak times (originally, the application proposed the installation of 15,142 panels).
The site will be used as a solar farm for a period of 21 years; the installation will then be decommissioned and the land returnedto agricultural use.
Power for Wales said: “The scheme will provide a reliable energy source that will make a positive contribution to the energy targets of the Welsh Assembly government and those of the UK as a whole.
“The solar farm will assimilate into the landscape without having an unduly dominant or harmful effect.”
