Finnish ultrasonic-cleaning company Finnsonic has installed Micromag filters from Sheffield-based Eclipse Magnetics on its cleaning lines to guarantee high standards of cleanliness for the precision components of customers that include British Airways, Emirates and Siemens (

The company’s Optima cleaning lines are specifically designed to clean parts after the process called thermal deburring, which leaves behind a significant amount of small iron particles that subsequently tend to accumulate in the wash tank.
This reduces the quality of the cleaning fluid, so Finnsonic needed an effective method of removing the iron particles. The Optima ultrasonic cleaning process has two Sonicjet stages with efficient particle removal capacity, plus a Micromag HP80 magnetic filtration unit from Eclipse.
The cleaning fluid is circulated in a closed loop between the ultrasonic wash tank and the Micromag filter, which has a centrally mounted rare-earth magnetic core that captures contamination particles in a controlled way and can never block.
The Micromag HP80 was chosen by Finnsonic due to its particular suitability for high-pressure applications, especially wash systems where high levels of resistance to corrosive elements in cleaning solutions and detergents are required. It is made using 304-grade stainless steel and incorporates Viton seals.
