Cutting-tool supplier Dormer Pramet (www.dormerpramet.com) has launched a new machining-data calculator app. Designed primarily for smartphones, the app can help determine a variety of data on operations that include milling, boring, drilling, turning and threading.

By entering different job parameters, including tool diameter and material type, Chesterfield-based Dormer Pramet says users can quickly and easily establish the optimum conditions for an efficient machining process.

A range of settings can be navigated by simply swiping the screen; these include power demand, torque and cutting time.

The app is available in 18 languages; additional user preferences provided include metric and inch options.

It can be downloaded for free from the iTunes and Google Play on-line stores.
