Renishaw opens North American Solutions CentreGlobal engineering and technologies company Renishaw (www.renishaw.com) has launched its first North American Additive Manufacturing Solutions Centre in Kitchener, Canada.

The new facility is designed to provides a secure development environment where customers can gain knowledge and confidence, using additive-manufacturing technologies.

Mark Kirby, Renishaw’s additive-manufacturing business manager, says: “Additive manufacturing is set to impact the manufacturing sector in industries ranging from aerospace to dental restoration and patient-specific cranio-maxillofacial implants for reconstructive surgery.

“The new facility complements the established advanced-manufacturing sector in Canada and will aid the acceleration of the development of industrial additive-manufacturing processes, particularly in the medical and aerospace industries.

“The centre contains a range of Renishaw technology, including the company’s AM250 and AM400 additive-manufacturing systems, as well as metrology and finishing equipment — everything a customer needs to create a functional part and verify that it is correct.

“Renishaw’s knowledge of metrology, machining and finishing means that, for a predictable cost, the customer can move down the additive-manufacturing learning curve with minimal risk.”

The new Canadian Solutions Centre is the latest step in Renishaw’s investment in making additive manufacturing a mainstream process used in series production in a range of industries.

The Centre complements Renishaw’s existing network of Solutions Centres (www.renishaw.com/solutioncentres) in the UK, the USA, Germany, India and China.
