Rugby-based TDT Technology (www.tdt-technology.co.uk) — the UK agent for Fidia CNC Machine Tools (a leading Italian manufacturer of five- and six-axis high-speed machining centres and high-performance machining centres) — will be exhibiting at the Advanced Manufacturing Show on stand B38.

Founded in 1974, Fidia specialises in CNC machine tools (with its own advanced control systems) for mould and die manufacturing. Taking centre stage on the TDT stand will be the Fidia C40 Vision control for high-speed milling and multi-axis applications; the company says this CNC system can reduce cycle times by as much as 30%, while maintaining the highest levels of accuracy and ensuring ‘safe’ milling conditions — even on very complex parts.

Also on display will be the Fidia HMS (head-measuring system), which can fully calibrate a five-axis machine in 20min. It is designed to measure and compensate for the mechanical inaccuracies of continuous and indexed ‘bi-rotary heads’ and ‘roto-tilting tables’.

HMS, which is managed by Fidia measurement software and features three high-precision displacement-measuring
devices is easy to install and use. Indeed, the company says HMS can be used by operators with no specific expertise.

Fidia’s world-wide sales comprise 80% machines and 20% from the supply of CNC systems to other machine tool manufacturers. In the UK, there are currently about 70 Fidia-controlled machines — including a number of the company’s own models.
