Renishaw focuses on quality at SubconRenishaw (www.renishaw.com) (Stand B41 at the Advanced Manufacturing Show 6-8 June at the Birmingham NEC) will be demonstrating its XM-60 — a laser-based measurement system that can measure errors in six degrees of freedom along a linear axis simultaneously in a single set-up.

Also on display will be the PH20, a five-axis system for touch-trigger measurement. This will be shown in conjunction with Renishaw’s Modus 2 CMM software, which features an innovative interface that is simple for new users to learn and fast to program.

Meanwhile, Renishaw’s Equator gauging system (pictured) can compensate for thermal change through re-mastering against a known reference master part on the shopfloor, thereby allowing manufacturers to significantly reduce scrap, reduce bottlenecks and streamline manufacturing processes.

With its intuitive software and user interface, the Equator gauge removes dependence on the skill of manual-gauge users, reducing gauging inconsistency while ensuring that out-of-tolerance parts are always identified.

Renishaw will also exhibit its diverse range of machine tool inspection probes and tool setters. The company says the use of accurate and precise machine tool probing is essential for maximising the efficiency, quality, capability and accuracy of machine tools, allowing users to establish the location and size of parts throughout the machining process — subsequently increasing in-process control.

Renishaw is also the only UK manufacturer of metal additive-manufacturing (AM) systems, and it will be showing a number of complex parts that demonstrate the potential that AM has for many industries and applications, from aerospace and automotive to dental and medical.
