Following the recent announcement that it is investing £35 million in a new 7,000m
2 facility in Lincoln, Siemens has announced that construction is now underway. The official ground-breaking ceremony took place at the Teal Park site on 17 May.
Commenting on this important milestone for Siemens in Lincoln, Neil Corner, managing director of Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery Ltd, said: “Lincoln is a great place to invest for our business. We have been at Teal Park for four years; and in line with our original plan, we have now started construction of the new Global Service Operations Centre.
“This investment will enable us to further improve our customer responsiveness and optimise our infrastructure to be ready for future growth.”
Located next to Siemens’ existing Teal Park overhaul facility, the new Global Service Operations Centre will help to improve efficiency by having everything in close proximity, such as spare parts, turbine engine units, tooling and safety equipment.
James Avery, project manager (Siemens Real Estate Building Solutions), added: “Following a significant amount of work between all parties involved over the last year, it is great to now see the start of construction.
“We are pleased to have selected Simons Group, a Lincoln-based contractor, to help us deliver this exciting project, which will hopefully be of benefit to the local economy.”
