Suffolk-based Spectra Packaging (www.spectra-packaging.co.uk) has started expansion work at its manufacturing facility in Halesworth.

Foundations have been laid for new steel structures at the company’s 17.4-acre site, and the completion of building work is scheduled for the end of this year.

Spectra expects the new facility to be fully operational by the end of April 2018.

Joe Maynard, Spectra’s managing director, said: “It’s hugely satisfying to see the next phase of Spectra’s history unfold. We have made the bold decision to increase the size of our facility in order to satisfy increased demand, and we can’t wait to see the new buildings in full production.”.

The company’s ambitious expansion plans will increase the size of its facility by about 50% — to 80,000ft², and it has made provision for three further units of 24,000ft2 each to accommodate future growth.
