Poole-based BOFA International (
www.bofa.co.uk), a manufacturer of fume and dust extraction systems for industry, has donated a fume extraction cabinet to the Health and Medical Science Department of Bournemouth & Poole College (
www.thecollege.co.uk).
The FumeCAB 1000 iQ will be installed in one of the department’s new labs and will be used primarily for organic chemistry.
It is an integrated filtration system designed to ensure compliance with the latest regulations. The company recently received a Queen’s Award for Enterprise, in recognition of the “revolutionary” iQ System, which ensures the highest level of safety and performance.
BOFA managing director Tony Lockwood recently presented the cabinet to the college, saying: “As a Dorset-based manufacturer, we are pleased to support Bournemouth & Poole College.
This year sees us celebrating 30 years of manufacturing, and it is a great opportunity to engage with the local community and meet our future engineers.”
Louise Garner, director of applied science at the college, said: “BOFA has given us a fantastic opportunity to enhance the learning environment for our students with this ‘state of the art’ equipment.
“We pride ourselves on preparing students for their future careers, and this generous donation will give them a leading edge into the world of work by allowing them to practice experiments using the latest technologies.”
