Bandsaws and blades in abundance

Bandsaws and blades in abundance The LS Starrett Co Ltd (www.starrett.co.uk) (Hall 15, Stand C8) will use EMO to showcase its bandsaw range, which extends from the portable S1005 (a 4kg battery-operated machine with a blade speed of 170m/min) up to the S4230 (a 475kg semi-automatic horizontal bandsaw with a ‘dynamometric’ saw-tension indicator and blade speeds from 20 to 85m/min).

Starrett, which is based in Jedburgh, will also be demonstrating its range of bandsaw blades and advising visitors how to select the best one for their needs.

For example, the company’s bi-metal blades — such as PrimAlloy — have a special high-speed edge with exclusive tooth geometry; they also have ‘extended life treatment’ functionality to ensure longevity, making them suitable for use on high-speed steel, stainless steel and titanium alloy workpieces.

Alternatively, there is the Starrett carbide range, including the Advanz MC5 and MC7 blades, which feature carbide-tipped teeth.
