The world’s leading trade show for industrial technology is spreading its wings, with the result that the first ever
Hanover Messe (
www.hannovermesse.de) in the USA will take place in September 2018.
Jochen Köckler — chairman of Deutsche Messe, which now stages about 60 events outside Germany every year — said: “There is no other trade show like the
Hanover Messe anywhere in the world.
"We want to leverage the power of the brand to speed up growth in our foreign markets, so we are premiering
Hanover Messe USA in Chicago next September, co-located with IMTS.”
Deutsche Messe has had a presence in the US market for many years, and it has been running a number of sector-specific trade shows in Chicago since 2012; it will now bring these shows together as
Hanover Messe USA.
“As a brand,
Hannover Messe has been steadily adding to its acclaim in the US market, in part thanks to the USA’s
Partner Country showcase in 2016 — a momentous event attended by President Barack Obama.
"By launching
Hannover Messe on US soil, we hope to attract even more exhibitors and visitors to Chicago, while also generating positive spin-off effects for the show in Hannover, Germany.”
The new show is expected to attract some 550 exhibitors (covering about 130,000ft
2 of display space) and more than 10,000 visitors.
In comparison, next year’s
Hannover Messe in Germany (23-27 April) is likely to have more than 5,000 exhibitors and about 200,000 visitors.
“Our trade shows outside Germany are aimed exclusively at local and regional visitors.
“Our trade shows in Hannover, on the other hand, will continue to be pitched as the global flagships of their respective target industries, so they will remain focused on an international clientele.”
