Aircraft deliveries in August second-highest everAircraft and aero-engine deliveries in August were the second-highest on record, with a total of 114 aircraft passed to customers.

The total number of aircraft delivered in the first eight months of the year was 885, bringing business worth up to £17 billion for UK companies.

These aircraft comprised 644 single-aisle aircraft and 241 wide-body types. The backlog of commercial aircraft on order now stands at 13,425, worth an estimated £210 billion to the UK.

Orders for wide-body aircraft are up 24% this year compared to the first eight months of 2016.

ADS (www.adsgroup.org.uk) chief executive Paul Everitt said: “Continued high global demand for new aircraft means that it remains vital to achieve new productivity gains.

"There can be no room for complacency in maintaining the UK’s hard-won competitiveness.

“Matching 2016’s record pace is a great challenge for the industry, and expectations are high for strong performances from UK aerospace companies for the rest of this year.”
