The first GT36-S5 gas turbine produced at Ansaldo Energia’s Genoa production facility (
www.ansaldoenergia.com) was unveiled last month.
Following the acquisition of the assets of the former Alstom in February 2016, Ansaldo Energia has spent over 65 million euros to bring the production of these machines to Italy.
The new facilities were officially opened in June 2017.
The GT36 is the most powerful machine of its type built by Ansaldo Energia. Nicknamed ‘Mont Blanc’, because it is “the top machine in Europe by power”, the turbine generates 538MW of power (ISO conditions) in the 50Hz version (the one unveiled) and 760MW in a combined-cycle power plant with an efficiency of 62.6%.
With the on-going support of Ansaldo Energia’s Chinese partner, Shanghai Electric Group, the first GT36 gas turbines will be installed in two power generation plants in the Shanghai area.
