Stadler lands Bolivian tram deal The Swiss rail vehicle manufacturer Stadler (www.stadlerrail.com) has been awarded the contract to manufacture 12 Metelitsa trams for the Cochabamba Metropolitan Train project.

The order came from the Asociación Accidental Tunari, a joint venture formed by the Spanish construction
company JOCA (part of the ICADI Group) and the Swiss firm Molinari Rail AG.

Delivery of the trams is planned for August next year; Stadler will also support the Asociación Accidental Tunari with the maintenance of the trams for three years.

The trams will be assembled in a European factory and, once verified, ‘broken down’ into modules and shipped to Cochabamba.

The three-car low-floor trams feature a track gauge of 1,435mm, a total length of 33m and a top speed of 80kph. Each can carry up to 200 passengers.
