US-based American Axle & Manufacturing Inc (AAM) — a global leader in the design and manufacture of automotive driveline and powertrain components — is to expand its operations in Spain to meet European demand for its products.
Due to open in January 2019, a new 15,000m
2 facility located 20km from Barcelona will produce powertrain components for Europe’s leading automotive manufacturers, including Renault, BMW, Daimler, Porsche, Audi and Ford.
The new facility replaces two smaller facilities in nearby Gavà and will employ 170 people at full capacity.

"It will help us to meet customer demand for products that reduce noise and vibrations from down-sized engines.”
AAM Barcelona will produce a complete range of damper products, including compression dampers, PV bonded dampers,
isolation pulleys, in-mould bonded dampers and damped gears.
The company is a leader in this segment, having pioneered the isolation pulley, many types of viscous dampers and damped gears.
