EMP invests in new laser marking system

EMP invests in new laser marking systemA growing demand for high-precision laser marking across a range of components has resulted in Havant-based EMP Tooling Services Ltd investing in a new FOBA laser marking system supplied by TLM Laser (www.tlm-laser.com).

Lasers have been a mainstay of EMP’s manufacturing processes for a number of years, with the company investing in five laser welding systems and two laser markers.

It has seen a trend for laser marking on smaller parts and more requests for miniature laser marking content, sometimes just 0.5mm high.

Manually positioning and aligning the component for marking becomes more challenging as the parts and the content
become smaller.

This is where FOBA’s innovative ‘point and shoot’ camera-guided technology comes into its own, leading to a reduction in the number of defective products, along with higher efficiency and productivity; the marks — even tiny ones — are always applied at the desired location and in the specified manner.

In addition, no costly fixturing is required.

Established in 1969, EMP has customers in a broad range of industry sectors, including automotive, medical, oil and gas, and aerospace. Bromsgrove-based TLM Laser is the UK and Ireland distributor for FOBA laser marking systems.
