Pentag Gears & Oilfield Equipment Ltd (
www.pentag-gears.com), a designer and manufacturer of high-quality gearing, has moved from Sheffield to the Chesterfield site of its parent company, BG Engineering.
The relocation gives Pentag the opportunity to expand its customer base in the mining, manufacturing, marine and steelwork industries by tapping into the greater resources and technology of its parent company.
The move took six weeks in total and involved releasing Pentag’s machines from their concrete foundations before installing them in BG Engineering’s 84,000ft
2 premises.
These machines include a Sunderland 27SDH spur and double helical gear planer, which can cut an 8ft ring gear and is believed to be the only one of its kind in the country, as well as a Webster & Bennett vertical borer with 72in table.
Andrew Larkin, Pentag Gears’ production manager, said: “We are very excited to be in our new premises. We are confident that by combining our equipment and our staff’s skills and experience with the knowledge and expertise of the team at BG Engineering, we can grow Pentag into a leading manufacturer and drive the business forward.”
Pentag was founded towards the end of the 19th century in Sheffield (under the Wilmot North name) as a pattern, wheel and gear manufacturing company. It was acquired by BG Engineering in May 2018.
