Rotherham-based sub-contractor MTL Advanced (www.mtladv.com) has commissioned a new Trumpf TruLaser 5040 4 x 2m 8kW fibre laser cutting machine with fully automated loading.

The new machine is the second addition of its kind in the past nine months;it is part of a company-wide investment and expansion plan, following the award of multiple contracts from its ‘blue chip’ OEM customer base.

General manager Karl Stewart said: “This new investment in ‘state of the art’ technology will enable us to take on more business, while improving our service and lead times.

"We are focused on expanding our customer base to fuel our continued success, and we have recently started a major recruitment drive to create 59 new positions, in order to consolidate our position as a leading contract manufacturing business.”

The new laser takes the total of laser cutting machines at our Rotherham site to eight — and 26 in our whole group — which makes us one of the largest laser cutting operations in Europe.
