First UAE contract notched up for Nottingham firmNottingham-based Pressac Communications, which designs and manufactures ‘the technology that makes buildings talk’, has won its first order from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), after its wireless sensors for monitoring energy usage, environmental conditions and occupancy were approved by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA).

The company, which employs 45 people, received TRA approval at the end of last year, to become an authorised dealer in the UAE and has individually registered its range of smart building sensor products for.

Without this registration, which initially lasts for five years, manufacturers are prohibited from selling to the UAE.

Occupancy, environmental and energy monitoring solutions have received approval, which include current sensors to measure energy usage to get an instant view of the energy at a machine, room or zone level.

Bob Smith, Pressac technical director (www.pressac.com), said: “The UAE has strict regulations for radio and telecommunications equipment, so being registered as a TRA authorised dealer — able to supply our building sensor technology products to customers in the UAE the UAE — presents a significant opportunity for us.

“Securing our first occupancy and temperature-monitoring project in the UAE — one worth over £20,000 — is a huge achievement for Pressac.

“Using various ways to detect the presence of people within a building helps facilities and building managers to create significant energy efficiencies and cost savings.”
