Vacuum brazing has boomed at Wallwork Group, since the company established a dedicated cell for the production of complex components — including honeycomb rings and segments — in 2014.
Orders for complex vacuum-brazed parts are ‘on the up’ from aerospace, motor-sport, medical and other ‘dynamic’ industries.
As part of a £2.7 million investment by Wallwork, a brand-new furnace will boost the capacity of the group’s Cambridge site to meet this demand.
Peter Cookson, technical sales manager (vacuum brazing), said: “Our highly skilled team can assemble extremely intricate components made from scores of parts, joining dissimilar metals with precision such as copper, stainless steel, nickel-based super-alloys and titanium (

“Joining under vacuum is controlled, so that the finished assemblies are clean and dimensionally accurate.”
Vacuum brazing provides time and cost savings compared to other fabrication methods.
Operating alongside heat treatment and hard coating services, the increased vacuum brazing capacity means that Wallwork Cambridge offers customers a ‘one-stop shop’ for their thermal-processing needs.
