CAF wins three maintenance contractsTrain manufacturer CAF (www.caf.net/en), which has its headquarters in Madrid (Spain) and facilities world-wide, has won train maintenance contracts in Spain and Saudi Arabia worth more than 240 million euros.

First off, RENFE chose CAF to maintain its Madrid commuter trains and medium-distance regional trains for four years, with the option of an additional year.

This work will be carried out by their Actren joint venture (CAF 51%, RENFE 49%).

Meanwhile, the Bilbao Metro has awarded CAF the contract to overhaul 218 bogies on 24 of its Series 500 units.

The duration of the contract is five years, and it follows previous contracts for the overhaul of Series 550 and 600 bogies.

Finally, both state-owned railway companies in Saudi Arabia — SRO and SAR — have entrusted CAF with the maintenance of their fleets.

In the case of SRO, the latest contract relates to the maintenance of 12 push-pull units that serve the Riyadh-Dammam line.

In the case of SAR, six push-pull units serving the Riyadh-Qurayyat line will be maintained. The duration of both contracts will be three years.
