Easy, accurate digital boring head set-up reduces scrapDigital Axibore and digital display

Seco has introduced Axiabore and Axiabore Plus digital axial boring heads to eliminate tedious, inaccurate adjustments that can ultimately lead to scrapped parts. Their large digital displays enable quick, efficient adjustment and set up. Seco product manager Kavita Dandg said: “Boring heads typically require a skilled operator for accurate adjustment. For shops struggling with skilled labour shortages, the digital axial boring Heads use a reversible digital display so operators can make adjustments without making any mistakes.”

Cutting edge displacement is critical to boring accuracy. Seco’s Axiabore and Axiabore Plus use a digital device to display precise displacement values during tool set up. This wide display works with all Seco digital axial boring heads, and reverses for clear visibility inside a machine tool.

Without a digital device, boring head set-up requires time-consuming adjustments of tiny hard-to-read scales. Seco’s Axiabore and Axiabore Plus allow for clear and concise adjustments to virtually eliminate human error. With a wide, easy-to-read display and convenient button controls, they shorten set-up times for greater efficiency and productivity.

Maximum versatility

For maximum versatility, the Seco digital adjustment device uses no batteries, charges via USB and attaches to the boring head with magnets for a tight seal. The elimination of replaceable batteries prevents contamination during battery changes. The battery-free design of Seco’s Axiabore and Axiabore Plus ensures they remain sealed to keep out dust and coolant, and the digital display’s single charge lasts for 200 measurements.

Seco offers both products in five sizes and the diameters match those of the Seco analogue axial tool range, starting from 2mm dia. The heads handle OD turning diameter from 2-57mm and grooving diameter from 19-96mm. Provided with Graflex, Seco-Capto and HSK-A63 connections, the boring heads generate holes with IT5 diameter precision and Ra 0.6 surface finishes. Axiabore heads handle fine boring diameter from 2-20mm. For diameters from 6-108mm, Axiabore Plus multi-purpose heads can otherwise be used.
