Dugard to take a ‘full complement of machines’ to MACH 2024

Dugard to take a ‘full complement of machines’ to MACH 2024Hove-based C Dugard Ltd will be showcasing a number of new machines from its diverse portfolio at MACH 2024, taking place from 15-19 April at the NEC, Birmingham. Many of the machines will be receiving their UK exhibition debuts — from fast and precise sliding head turning centres to industry-leading five-axis machining centres.

Taking centre stage will be a heavy duty Kitamura Mytrunnion 4G five-axis machining centre, alongside three Hanwha sliding head turning centres. Also in the spotlight will be an SMEC 2500BSY turning centre and a Mylas DT52 twin-spindle twin-turret multi-tasking turning centre.

To showcase the breadth of its machine tool offering, the machine tool specialist will also highlight the popular Hanwha brand of sliding-head turning centres which were first introduced to the UK by Dugard at MACH 2022. On display will be the XD10, XD20 III and the XDI 32 models.

For those manufacturers looking for a large and powerful turning centre, Dugard will showcase one of its most popular machine tools - the SMEC SL2500BSY turning centre which is built upon the foundation of a single-piece Meehanite casting that is heavily ribbed with a torque tube design. Furthermore, box slideways are used throughout the SMEC range, resulting in outstanding vibration dampening and thermal displacement characteristics.

This combination permits powerful heavy-duty cutting that ultimately enhances surface finishes, tool life, component quality and productivity. The extremely robust machine with sub-spindle hosts an 8in chuck with a 650mm swing over bed capacity that allows a maximum machining diameter of 395mm and a maximum turning length of 450mm.

A variety of configurations

This spacious work envelope ensures the machine is suitable for a wide range of industrial sectors. The SMEC SL2500BSY has a bar capacity of 68mm and a powerful 18.5kW spindle motor that combines to enable heavy-duty manually loaded or automatically bar feed machining of relatively large diameter parts. Both the SMEC and the Hanwha ranges are available in a variety of configurations and capacity sizes to meet the complete needs of the marketplace.

Complementing the SMEC will be the new Mylas DT52 vertical turning lathe. Like all other machines in the Dugard stable, the Mylas brand has been introduced into the Dugard family for its stability, precision, innovation and productivity. Receiving its show debut, the Mylas DT52 at MACH will have a 12-station turret with 6,000rev/min spindle speed, a powerful 15kW main spindle with a 79mm through bore and an 8-station sub-spindle tooling turret.

With a maximum bar turning capacity of 51mm and a maximum turning length of 350mm, the Mylas DT52 has a host of standard accessories such as parts catcher and conveyor, automatic lubrication and through-spindle coolant. It is a competitively priced ‘one-hit’ production centre for everything from the simplest to the most-complex of components.

For prismatic machining, Dugard will display the Kitamura Mytrunnion 4G five-axis machining centre, which incorporates a 400mm diameter rotary table and X, Y and Z travels of 610 x 610 x 500mm, with an A-axis tilt of -120 to +30deg and 360deg C-axis. Kitamura is renowned for its speed and precision and the Mytrunnion 4G is no exception, with 50m/min rapids, 18,000deg/min A and C axis and the most powerful Arumatik CNC system in its class.
