Wenzel UK announces new ‘AI-based’ robot operating systemCoalville-based Wenzel UK Ltd, a leading provider of measurement technology and robot solutions that include three models of the Digital Robot HORST robots from the German manufacturer Fruitcore Robotics (these have reaches from 600 to 1,400mm and load capacities up to 12kg load capacity) says this robotics company has taken ‘industrial automation to a new level with an innovative operating system that uses the latest AI technology’.

Wenzel said: “With an integrated AI Copilot, industrial companies can increase the efficiency of their production processes and save time, as generative AI is driving a transformation of many task areas, in this case transforming automation and providing our customers with a whole new automation experience.

“The new operating system simplifies and accelerates the configuration and management of all components involved in the process, the programming, and the operation of the finished application. In fact, the entire control system of robots, components, and existing industrial processes is carried out via a user-friendly interface with which their interaction is achieved even more easily.

“Users can seamlessly integrate and centrally manage all components relevant to an overall plant — such as grippers, camera systems, and safety systems — thanks to standardised interfaces. Moreover, adding components takes just one click and is possible for all components that have a web app or a digital interface , regardless of the manufacturer; and if status information needs to be queried for one of the connected components, settings need to be checked, or changes need to be made, this can be readily implemented via the robot.

“Also helping users is the fact that process data, the status of connected components, and access parameters that need to be adjusted frequently can be readily displayed, giving users full control over their automation process — and the AI Copilot is based on the free-to-use ChatGPT AI system and has been specially trained for industry conditions.”
