BASF has begun building a new resin- and electro-coating plant in Shanghai. The German chemical company says that this will meet the increasing demand for coatings solutions in a number of industries — including the automotive sector — in the Asia Pacific region.

Expected to commence operations in the second half of 2015, the new plant will be located at the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park, adjacent to the company’s automotive-coatings plant, which will start operations this summer. “The close proximity of these two plants will allow for more synergies and efficiency,” the company said.
