Civil-engineering group Atkins has won a contract for the Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm that covers all design and engineering services for the mono-pile foundations for its 6MW turbines, as well as management services during their fabrication and installation.
David Parkin, managing director for Atkins’ Renewables division, said: “This contract ‘win’ further builds on our established position as a leading engineering consultancy in the offshore wind sector. The project plays to our strengths in geo-technical and offshore structural engineering.”
The Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm, which will be located 20 miles off the coast at Cromer in Norfolk, is expected to have an installed capacity of around 400MW —enough energy to power up to 410,000 homes — and to cut CO
2 emissions by up to 19 million tonnes over its 25-year life-time.
