Stockport-based MAN Diesel & Turbo UK has won a £39 million contract to supply 60 high-speed 12-cylinder diesel engines to Ching Fu Shipbuilding Co. They will be installed on 28 vessels for the Taiwan Coastguard and supplied over a six-year period.
Managing director Andrew Bellamy (pictured) said: “These engines have been serving industries well for decades and still remain extremely competitive, thanks to on-going re-development and investment. This contract win is a fantastic boost for the UK operation, which will be manufacturing the engines and supporting them for years to come.”
MAN Diesel & Turbo UK is part of a German group and employs 150 people in Stockport.
