Haydock-based Coral Products is to buy Tatra Plastics Manufacturing — an injection-moulding firm with headquarters in Halifax — in a £2.5 million cash and shares deal. The latter has contracts with major corporations in the telecoms and rail industries; it made a pre-tax profit of £200,000 last year on sales of £3.2 million.

Chairman Joe Grimmond said: “The acquisition of Tatra expands Coral’s market coverage and product range. It is expected to be earnings-enhancing in the first year and will help to boost the utilisation of the manufacturing capacity at our Haydock site.”
