Revenues and profits down at Hydro

Revenues and profits down at HydroHydro International, the north Somerset manufacturer of products for waste-water treatment, reports that its revenues and pre-tax profits have fallen, following “challenges” in its European operations during the first six months of 2014. It expects results to be “weighted significantly” to the second half of the year.

The Clevedon-based business said that revenues stood at £13.1 million for the six months to 30 June, compared with £15.1 million for the same period a year earlier. Pre-tax profits also declined to £19,000 from £409,000 in 2013.

However, chief executive Michael Jennings said: “The major work to build more-sustainable growth platforms is well under way and very much on track with our plans. In our core UK and North American markets, we are already seeing some positive signs in response to investments made in regional sales and services resources, product range extensions, and improved sales channel management.”

He added that he sees “considerable opportunities looking beyond the current year”.
