Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Wuhan University of Technology (WUT).

This will result in research and teaching collaboration through programmes at both PhD and Masters level at LJMU’s school of engineering, technology and maritime operations. The two universities have collaborated on a number of joint research projects in marine technology, engineering and maritime logistics over the last decade, including two on-going EU projects on supply-chain integration and maritime safety.

A delegation from WUT visited LJMU to sign the agreement. Professor Xinping Yan, vice-president of the Chinese university, said: “This visit has encouraged us to make LJMU our main university partner in the UK in the future. We will direct our students to pursue their doctoral research and post-graduate study at LJMU.”

Edward Harcourt, LJMU’s pro-vice-chancellor for external engagement, said: “Our link to Wuhan University of Technology stretches back more than 10 years, and the joint research projects between our two universities provide a very strong basis on which to build.”
