Lufthansa orders 25 Airbus planesLufthansa has placed an order with Airbus for 25 aircraft — 10 A320ceo passenger jets for its low-cost business Eurowings and 15 for its subsidiary Swiss, which is the national airline of Switzerland.

The wings for these aircraft will be made at the Airbus group’s Broughton factory in Wales. Lufthansa is the biggest supporter of Airbus, having bought more than 400 of its aircraft.

Nico Buchholz, executive vice-president of Lufthansa Group Fleet Management, said: “This new order is the next logical step in our on-going fleet modernisation strategy, in particular with regard to driving down fuel burn, operating costs, noise and emissions.”

John Leahy, Airbus chief operating officer for customers, said: “We thank our prestigious customer Lufthansa Group for their continued confidence in our product line.”
