JCB has won one of the biggest engine-supply deals in its history after winning a contract worth around £4.5 million a year.
The order will see JCB Power Systems supply Coventry-based Terex GB with Ecomax 55kW engines to power site dumpers. The engines, which will be made at JCB’s Foston factory in Derbyshire, will initially power two Terex models — the TA6 and the TA6S.
JCB CEO Graeme Macdonald said: “The engine supply contract is a major milestone for the JCB Power Systems business. It is one of the biggest engine supply deals in the company’s history and is testament to the reliability and efficiency advantages offered by the Ecomax engine.”
JCB began producing engines at its Foston plant at the end of 2004, and engine production was extended to India in 2011.
To date, JCB has produced 350,000 engines globally; moreover, JCB engines now power more than 70% of its own products.
