Free business advice for SMEsPositive Psychology in SMEs is the title of a free event taking place next week, organised by Aston Business School.

Offering advice to businesses in the Midlands with fewer than 250 employees, this will feature award-winning SMEs Volumatic Ltd and Professional Polishing Ltd, as well as two leading voices in the field of psychology — Jamil Qureshi and Professor Adrian Furnham.

Mr Qureshi, whose clients include Premier League football clubs and the golfer Rory McIlroy, “challenges businesses and people to think differently in order to gain an advantage” and will use the event to “share a practical understanding of how to create positive change through different perspectives”.

Professor Furnham, who teaches psychology at University College London, writes for The Financial Times and The Sunday Times and is the author of about 70 books, will give a talk that includes three themes: “managing change in turbulent times, motivation in the work-place and the psychology of money”.

Meanwhile Juliette Summerfield, finance and operations director of Volumatic (a manufacturer of 'intelligent' cash-handling equipment), and Kirsty Davies-Chinnock, managing director of Professional Polishing, will share their experiences of business. The event takes place on 28 January at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens (pictured).

Beginning at 5:15pm, it includes a free buffet, and free on-site parking is available. For more information, visit the Web site (t4gpositivepsychology.eventbrite.co.uk).
