Designed for high-volume metal removal on aluminium components, the Unipro 5000 has an X-axis travel of 5,000mm, plus travels in Y and Z of 800 and 500mm respectively.
This makes the machine — available in the UK from Leatherhead-based Matchmaker CNC (
www.matchmakermc.co.uk) — suitable for machining components such as wing ribs, especially when specified with the trunnion-type table that gives access to the top and side faces; and with the spindle’s ability to tilt ±15deg, full five-sided machining can be accommodated.
Meanwhile, the addition of a trunnion system promotes good clearance for the swarf generated by the 100kW 25,000rev/min spindle that is fitted as standard. This spindle, combined with axis accelerations at 8m/sec2 to feed rates up to 60m/min, means that the machine can remove material at up to 10,000cm3/min.
Also available from Matchmaker CNC and featuring the same 100kW spindle and metal removal capabilities as the Unipro 5000, the Uni-pent Aero is a compact, full five-axis vertical machining centre with a working volume of 1,000 x 1,000 x 600mm and a centrally located tool carousel (positioned on the X axis) with a capacity for 61 HSK 63A tools as standard (63 and 126 tool positions are available as options).
The Unipent Aero features a portal configuration with a double-drive system in the Y axis for positioning the bridge.
The five-axis movement is achieved via a rotating and tilting table with a rotational speed of 52rev/min. This unit sits on the machine base, which is inclined at 45deg to aid swarf flow.
For higher levels of productivity, the machine can be fitted with a pallet system.
