Latest DNM machining centres unveiledLeamington Spa-based Mills CNC Ltd (www.millscnc.co.uk), the exclusive distributor of Doosan machine tools in the UK and Ireland, has launched the latest generation of DNM three-axis machining centres.

The DNM 4500, 5700 and 6700 machines replace the DNM Mk II series and feature a number of enhancements. For instance, larger working envelopes and work tables, as well as longer X and Y axes, have been introduced without increasing the machine footprint. Furthermore, all three models are available with a choice of control— Fanuc i, Heidenhain TNC620 or Siemens S828D.

The latest machines are equipped with direct-coupled spindles (18.5kW 8,000rev/min or 11kW/12,000rev/min) as opposed to belt-driven units. As a consequence, there is less vibration and noise during high-speed operations, while further benefits include improved acceleration/deceleration and faster rigid tapping.

Additional improvements include shorter tool-to-tool change-over times and the introduction of grease-lubricated axis travels (rather than oil lubrication) to extend the period between maintenance intervals.
