The latest Romer Absolute Arm from Telford-based Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence (
www.hexagonmi.com) will feature a newly developed high-speed laser scanner. The new arm with Integrated Scanner (SI) is now fitted with the RS4 scanner.
Featuring completely new optics and electronics, this scans 60% faster than its predecessor, with performance particularly improved when measuring ‘difficult surfaces’ such as carbon fibre or machined steel.
The RS4 has a wide laser line that is almost double the width of the previous model, as well as a lower point resolution, giving users greater point-cloud detail in significantly less time than before, says Hexagon.
As with every Romer Absolute Arm, scanner warm-up and time-consuming calibrations are unnecessary. The longer stand-off of the RS4 also allows users to scan with more depth into difficult-to-reach cavities than before, with no reduction in accuracy.
Hexagon’s RS4 laser scanner will now be fitted to every SI model arm; it will also be available as a retrofit product for existing Romer Absolute Arm SI owners looking to upgrade their scanning performance.
