A London South Bank University (LSBU) graduate has been given the Innovate Product Design award for his folding-bike design.

Alan Rallings’ CyclOpic invention caught the eye of the judges at the recent New Designers 2017 exhibition in Islington, as it folds down to a very space-efficient package thanks to its hub-less front wheel.

Mr Rallings recently returned to Burley (Hampshire) after working abroad for a number of years, and he decided to enrol in a degree to get back up to speed with the latest technology and software.

He searched for a university with an established track record in design and engineering and found an opportunity at LSBU.

He said: “This very important prize is the first step towards further developing the concept that I have been working on, so this will possibly be a life-changing opportunity.”
