XYZ strengthens customer-facing teamA combination of recruitment and internal promotions has strengthened the customer-facing team at XYZ Machine Tools (www.xyzmachinetools.com), to support the on-going growth in business at the Devon-based company — and its move into the sale of five-axis machining centres.

After 10 years supporting customers through the XYZ Programming Helpline, Mark Higson has been appointed to the newly created role of Manufacturing Engineer, where the emphasis will be on developing demonstration parts and proving out components.

Matt Hill will be moving to the Programming Helpline desk, which offers a free support service for customers using XYZ machines fitted with ProtoTrak and Siemens control systems.

Meanwhile, Steve Davie — who has been involved in machine build and electrical testing in the XYZ factory for the past 12 years — will take up the role of service engineer in the South West and South Wales.

Joining Mr Davie in the service team is new recruit Jas Chaven, who has 10 years’ experience in a machine tool service role.

Nigel Atherton, XYZ’s managing director, said: “This is an exciting period for the company, with the introduction of new machine ranges, and sales continuing to grow. Our customer support and service teams are very well respected; strengthening these through internal promotions and recruitment will ensure that our reputation grows.”
