Oldham-based Constant Group Ltd (www.constantgroup.co.uk), a precision sheet metal fabricator, has expanded its facility to 50,000ft² with the acquisition of neighbouring units on the Meadowbank Business Park.

It has invested £5 million in CNC machine tools and other equipment, including a powder coating plant.

Managing director Matt Garlick said: “The expansion of the business is a direct result of a growing customer base that requires a wider variety of projects, shorter lead times and project stock holding.

“We’ve also benefitted from a rising demand for complex assemblies, such as IoT retail display units that need more floor space.

“The extra space will allow us to create the factory floor that we have always wanted, and give greater flexibility to what we can offer.

“Our business development team has trebled to enable us to liaise with new and existing customers, and we have embraced a new digital infrastructure, introducing several internal systems such as Radan’s e2i package.

“This digital upgrade has reduced our production lead times and streamlined our design-to-delivery processes.

“As the business grows physically, allowing us to take on additional customers and increase our contract work, we’ll be able to offer more employment opportunities.”

The group has also achieved ISO 9001:2015 certification. David Gilligan, operations manager, said: “ISO 9001 is about quality management; it takes into consideration our advances in internal systems such as e2i integration of documentation and processes from office to factory floor.

“It also keeps housekeeping, standardisation and policies in line, to avoid any errors.”
