Aldridge-based Maloney Metalcraft (
www.maloney-metalcraft.com) — a design and engineering specialist working primarily in the oil and gas markets — has acquired (from administrators KPMG) some of the assets of the Halifax-based Ormandy Group, which recently went into administration with the loss of 100 jobs.
Maloney has purchased certain items of intellectual property and other assets and will integrate them into its business.
Its parent company, Avingtrans PLC, has developed a reputation for turning round the fortunes of under-performing businesses in highly regulated engineering niche markets.
Austen Adams, Maloney Metalcraft’s managing director, said: “Since its formation in 2000, Ormandy Group has developed a very good reputation for manufacturing high-quality products and providing excellent customer service.
“Unfortunately, challenging market conditions have taken their toll in recent years. We are confident that by making the most of the synergies that exist between the Ormandy Group and Avingtrans’ businesses — and using the capabilities that already exist within our own operations — we can breathe new life into the well-known brands of Ormandy, Rycroft and Newade.
“One of our priorities will be to talk to existing customers to identify how we can best deliver their product and service needs.”
Ormandy Group, which manufactured off-site plant, heat exchangers and other heating, ventilation and air-conditioning products, supplied systems for major projects such as the Shard and Wembley Stadium.
Maloney Metalcraft, alongside its sister business Stainless Metalcraft, offers a ‘one-stop shop’ for the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of systems for the oil and gas, nuclear, power, renewables, environmental and medical markets.
With UK facilities in Aldridge (West Midlands) and Chatteris (Cambridgeshire), it designs and manufactures pressure vessels, heat exchangers and filtration and separation components in a range of materials.
