Clamping module for automated machine loading

Clamping module for automated machine loadingAvailable from Newport Pagnell-based Schunk Intec Ltd (www.gb.schunk.com) is the Vero-S NSE-A3 138 — an automation module for automated machine tool loading, and for applications in handling, assembly and automation.

The clamping module is part of the extensive Schunk VERO-S modular system, which provides more than 1,000 possible combinations for workpiece clamping and features a powerful blow-off function that cleans the bearing surface during the changing process.

In addition, a spring-actuated cone seal prevents chips or dirt from reaching the changing interface.

A pull-down force of 8,000N (or 28,000N with a ‘turbo function’) ensures the rigidity of automated quick-change solutions, even where high tilting moments and shear forces are encountered; and depending on the application, a number of modules can be combined.

Centring inserts with flexible elements ensure a repeat accuracy of better than 0.005mm.

The actual clamping is self-retaining via spring force and maintained without any external energy supply, thereby ensuring that workpieces remain safely clamped in the case of a sudden drop in pneumatic pressure. A pressure of 6 bar is enough to open the module.

If modules are used individually, a standard integrated anti-twist protection device ensures stable positioning, while an integrated media transfer unit allows fluids at pressures up to 300 bar to be transferred.

The options range from standard plates to Schunk Tandem ‘clamping-force blocks’, to mechanical vices from the Schunk Kontec series.
