ITC promotes hole- and thread-making expertise

ITC promotes hole- and thread-making expertise Tamworth-based Industrial Tooling Corporation Ltd’s new Slimline catalogue (www.itc-ltd.co.uk) will be a key part of the company’s stand at MACH (Hall 5, Stand 5261). This will once again highlight the benefits of the Widia range of solid-carbide and HSS end mills, while introducing new products from ITC’s hole-making and threading lines.

New products include the VariDrill range of solid-carbide drills available in 3xD, 5xD and 8xD. The combination of a margin-less geometry design that evenly distributes cutting forces and a core design that promotes free chip flow and evacuation stabilises the cutting forces to reduce friction, heat, chip-jamming and scratching. This results in improved hole quality and finish; and with a precise shank (to reduce run-out) and the option of through-tool coolant, these drills are suitable for all material types.

Complementing the VariDrill will be the new VariTap range, which made its world debut at last year’s EMO exhibition. The VariTap series of high-vanadium HSS-E taps incorporates an optimised geometry to deliver high performance on a vast selection of ductile materials, including carbon and alloy steels, stainless steels, ductile iron and cast aluminium. This versatility cuts inventory requirements and costs for the customer.

With regard to blind holes, the VariTap series offers geometries that achieve rapid swarf evacuation via polished flutes, while the spiral-flute geometry reduces stress on the tap to deliver improved thread finish and extended tool life, the latter benefit also resulting from a PVD coating.

The VariTap is available with various dimensions and geometries (including ANSI, DIN length/ANSI shank, DIN 371 and 376, and UNJC/UNJF) and with semi-bottoming chamfers, Form B plug chamfer, Form C semi-bottoming chamfers and spiral-point plug chamfers. ITC will also be highlighting its ability to manufacture specialised tooling solutions on short lead times.
