Following its appointment as the sales and service operation for Kafo in the UK and Ireland, Rugby-based TDT Technology
www.tdt-technology.co.uk re-introduced the Taiwan-built machine tool range at the
MACH 2014 exhibition — and was “astonished” by the level of interest in the brand.
Managing director Simon Hewson reports that demand has exceeded expectations, especially for the higher-specification larger-capacity machines, rather than the smaller three-axis machining centres.
Mr Hewson said: “We always knew that the Kafo range would be well received by the UK market, but we were not prepared for the high demand for the top end of the Kafo range, such as the double-column and heavy-duty machining centres.
“Where we have made an impact is with our ability to tailor the specifications of these machines to the exact requirements of UK engineering companies, then deliver and install them in a fraction of the time normally experienced from some suppliers.”
The company also said there has been an excellent take-up of the opportunity to visit the Kafo factory in Taiwan — to see the machines in build and to offset the travel cost against any resulting machine orders.
